2013 Quilt Show Overview

The Oregon Garden’s 6th annual Stitches in Bloom Quilt Show runs Jan. 25 - 26, 2013,  from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will feature quilting demonstrations and lectures, quilt-related vendors, and a tearoom with lunch fare. The event will highlight guest artist Charlotte Warr Andersen, creator of one-of-a-kind pictorial quilts, who will be giving daily lectures.

The Rhythm and Hues and Elements exhibits will be on display from High Fiber Diet.

You're invited to submit quilts for display in the show, with an entry fee of $10 per quilt. Ribbons will be awarded for Viewer’s Choice in appliqué, piecework, art design and traditional quilts. We also invite you to participate in the Quilt Challenge, where participants submit a quilt made from a designated challenge fabric. This year’s fabric is called “Yellow Iris & Peony” by Kaffe Fassett Collective.

We are also offering a three-day pictorial appliqué workshop with featured artist Andersen from January 22 through 24. The price of $250 includes the workshop and lunch all three days.

The quilt show is included with regular Garden admission: $11 adults, $9 seniors 60 and older, $8 students 12-17, $5 children 5-11, and free for children 4 & under. Or volunteer and receive free admission, contact volunteer@oregongarden.org or 503-874-2533.

The Oregon Garden Resort is presenting a variety of lodging packages throughout the week for both Quilt Show and workshop attendees. Make reservations online or by calling 503-874-2500.

Coming in 2013...

I know we are just getting into the swing of 2012 but we would like to announce some exciting things for Stitches in Bloom 2013.

Our featured artist will be Charlotte Warr Andersen. She creates incredible pictorial quilts of both people and landscapes. She will teach a 3-day workshop preceding Stitches in Bloom 2013. Early registration will be available at this year's show. Anyone who registers by the end of the show will receive 15% off their total cost of registration-including their room if they choose a room package! There are only 20 spots!

We have also chosen our 2013 Challenge Quilt fabric. It's a beautiful Iris and Peony print by Kaffe Fassett. The 2013 challenge is sponsored by Greenbaum's Quilted Forest. First place will receive a $100 gift certificate. Greenbaum's will have this fabric available at the show!

Stop by The Oregon Garden booth at the show for information and to pick up forms.

Challenge Quilts

Today was the deadline for the challenge quilts and we got some really incredible submissions. I know this was truly a challenge for some because of the large pattern vs small quilt conundrum but our submissions are creative and beautiful. We've got them hanging in the Resort until the show so that everyone can enjoy them.
Valori Wells will be coming by this month to pick her favorite and then we'll announce the winners. Because we only had 4 brave souls submit quilts they will all get a prize of some sort. Thank you. ladies for your stunning work!
Below are my (not so great) iphone photos of the quilts. You'll have to come to the show or the Resort to see them in all their true glory!
